With so many cars on the road, lots of car exhaust is poured into our air. Smoke from wildfires and dust from the dry earth also add to our haze.

During Memorial Day, there is another source of pollution—lighter fluid on charcoal grills.

Air quality experts from Pima County say burning the fluid emits benzene, a chemical linked to cancer. Breathing it isn't good for us. Fortunately, there are devices that can start charcoal without using lighter fluid, for those of us who want a traditional barbecue.
