Barbecue and bluegrass held center stage Saturday at Anne Springs Close Greenway.
More than 1,500 people turned out for the first Greenway Barbecue and Bluegrass Festival. At the event, 17 teams faced off for a chance to claim first place in a barbecue showdown.
"Barbecue goes with the South just like bluegrass," said Bill Steele, event chairman.
Some festivalgoers ventured across the greenway atop hayrides. Others watched the University of South Carolina defeat Florida.
Rose Starnes and her husband, Dock, settled in for a feast of bluegrass music, and, of course, barbecue. Dock Starnes' barbecue of choice was crafted by Backwoods Cookers.
