Barbecue Contest - When Pigs Fly: Rain Doesn't Dampen Barbecue Event
Wednesday, September 13 2006 at 12:44
At the When Pigs Fly event, many barbecue contestants showed their dedication and love for the grill. Despite the rain, the barbecue contestants seemed to enjoy themselves.
“We come out here not only to support the Chamber, but to have fun in the process,” Brett Reber said.
Reber has participated in the Chamber's barbecue event since it began five years ago. It is the only barbecue contest in which he and his partner, Bob Cullen, have participated.
“It's local and handy,” Reber said.
Reber's group, The Ring of Fire Cookers, started barbecuing at midnight Friday and continued it into the night. Chicken, pork, pork ribs and brisket were the four meats each contestant had to grill.
