Gas grill accessories are also constitutive parts of the grill unit. They are specifically designed to complete the grilling. And to make it easier for you to use and keep the grill in good condition. A proper care will give your gas grill a longer lifetime. Grill accessories vary a lot, from basic to specialized. The accessories available for a (gas) grill unit are listed below:
- rotisserie equipment. This is optional but some manufacturers offer this equipment along with the grill. It is highly recommended because there is a major advantage to rotisserie cooking. Meats are generally juicier, self-basted and slow roasted. In case your new grill doesn't include a rotisserie equipment, you need to buy a rotisserie attachment separately, with a powerful motor.
- reliable grill thermometer, a must-have tool, if you intend to cook regularly poultry or large portions of meat on a regular basis.
- grill cleaning brush, a must-have auxiliary (you may choose a wire brush) to clean the grill grates. In fact, you should buy a couple of brushes because they do not last too long. Besides, some flavours can't be removed and you will need to use a new brush. Also, you need one brush dedicated to oiling surfaces only.
- a pair of good tongs, also a must. You can buy a pair of heavy iron tongs for picking up hot grates. But you may need another one, made of stainless steel, for flipping steaks and sausages which hold together on the grill.
- grill spatula. Get a large bladed, bent handled spatula for getting under foods and fish fillets easily.
- cooking baskets and skewers (for smaller foods). There are two kinds of skewers you can choose from: long metal ones which should have a flat blade design and bamboo skewers — cheaper and coming in packages of 50 or 100 with different lengths
- kitchen mitts shouldn't miss from your cooking tools. From the simplest to specialized mitts: fireproof grilling mitts, they should be always at hand so you can pick up hot things
- a grill cover is a good investment for the future (to prevent rust and small animals and insects from damaging your grill), and
- absorbent grill pad, optional, to absorb the grease resulting from the cooking process
- a smoker tray, optional. A cast iron smoker tray is a good one; it adds appetising smoke flavor to your food.
