The great advantage of gas grills is that you get concomitantly:
- the marvelous flavor of outdoor cooking, combined with
- heat control. You can instantly vary the heat you need by turning the knob, and
- flexibility of a gas burner.
As for gas grills versus charcoal grills and electric, there are a few sensitive differences to be considered.
Gas Grills Versus Charcoal Grills
Both grills have advantages and drawbacks.
Drawbacks With Charcoal
- the released heat is difficult to regulate on a charcoal grill
- setting up a charcoal grill and taking it down can be difficult
- messing up is unavoidable
- you should take care where you put the charcoal grill; windy places aren't recommended: accidental sparks, spread by the wind might generate housefires.
The Advantages of Charcoal Grills
- if you long for the hands-on, crude grill experience, then the charcoal grill is for you;
- what makes coal grills different from gas grills is the flavor released while cooking. With charcoal (the same for wood pellets), the taste of grilled foods is strongest.
Drawbacks of Gas Grills
- the price of gas grills is higher compared to charcoal grills. If you don't have much money to spend, then you should rather buy a charcoal grill
- the flavor isn't as strong as with charcoal foods
- you need a LP tank or a natural gas source available.
The great advantage of a gas grill is that you have a convenient cooking unit for your backyard or for your trips or vacations.
Gas Grill Versus Electric Grills
Essentially, people buy electric grills because of their convenience. They don't involve a gas source and this is an additional advantage. Any place with electricity (usually home, nevertheless) is just fine for an electric grill. The drawback you have to tolerate with an electric grill is that the food you get lacks the great flavor of a charcoal grill, even of a gas grill.
